Laundry is a common household activity for ages. The technology started like, beating the garments on rocks by river and now it is like pushing button on programmed washing machine. These processes are mainly depending on the water and a mechanical action with soap or a chemical called alkali.
The drying process is the next step. Either hanging the clothes on a clothesline or tumbling the clothes in a electric-heated dryer or a gas dryer.
The Process of dry cleaning is completely different. In this method the clothes are washed without water. Cleaning liquids are used for dry cleaning. All clothes or immersed in a liquid solvent and cleaned. Note, there is no water has been used in this process. That is the reason for quoting this as “Dry Cleaning”.
Early days, the dry cleaning service providers used a wide range of solvents to clean the garments. For dry cleaning they used kerosene and gasoline. Later, they used some synthetic solvents for dry cleaning. Usage of the those solvents resulted in a good dry cleaning service. So, they have started using the “Perchlorethylene (perc)” as a solvent in dry cleaning services for excellent quality service.
As the perc works well, the majority of the dry cleaning services are using it. The proliferation of dry cleaning services and cleaning franchises offering fast service from convenient, clean and attractive locations. These factors changed the dry cleaning industry into what we see today – A constant revenue earning business.
